01The agreement
These Terms form a legally binding contract between you ("you", "your") and Finlay Salisbury, a sole trader trading as SQEase ("SQEase", "we", "us", "our"), based in England & Wales.
By creating an account, accessing or using the platform you confirm you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Acceptable Use Policy, our AI Content Disclaimer and our SRA / SQE Disclaimer. If you don't agree, do not use SQEase.
02Description of service
SQEase is an online subscription platform that uses a multi-stage artificial-intelligence pipeline to generate Single Best Answer questions, explanations, and tutoring responses for candidates preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination 1 (SQE1). The platform includes:
- A Practice Questions area with practice and timed Mock modes.
- A Knowledge Library for built-in and user-uploaded study materials.
- Lex, your AI Tutor, that helps configure exams and explain answers.
- A Performance Dashboard with topic-level analytics.
Note on Features and Limits: Access to specific features (such as Lex's advanced tutoring capabilities versus standard exam configuration), content libraries, and usage limits (e.g., the number of quizzes you can generate) are determined by your selected subscription tier. The specific inclusions, exclusions, and limitations for each tier are detailed on our Pricing page, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
Features may be added, changed or removed at our discretion. Material reductions in functionality on a paid plan entitle you to a pro-rated refund (see §6).
03Your account & obligations
You must be 18 or older to use SQEase. You agree to:
- Provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
- Keep your password confidential and notify us immediately of any unauthorised access.
- Use SQEase only for lawful, personal study purposes.
- Comply with our Acceptable Use Policy — particularly the prohibition on sharing, reselling or scraping questions.
- Not upload content that infringes third-party copyright, contains personal data of others, or breaches confidentiality.
04Subscriptions & auto-renewal
Paid plans are billed in advance via Stripe. By subscribing you authorise us to charge your payment method on each renewal date until you cancel.
- Monthly plans renew every calendar month at the price shown at sign-up.
- Annual plans renew every 12 months. We'll email a renewal reminder at least 30 days before charging.
- Price changes apply only to renewals after at least 30 days' notice.
- Cancel anytime in
Account → Billing; your plan remains active until the end of the current period.
05Cooling-off period
If you have not waived your cooling-off right and have not yet downloaded or used any AI-generated questions, you may cancel within 14 days for a full refund.
06Refunds & cancellation
For full details see our Refund & Cancellation Policy. In summary:
- Monthly plans — no refunds for partial months; you keep access until period end.
- Annual plans — pro-rated refund if you cancel within 30 days and have used the service for fewer than 50 questions.
- Service failure — full refund for any period during which the platform was materially unavailable.
07AI-generated content
SQEase questions, explanations and tutor responses are generated by AI models and pass through our 5-stage verification pipeline. Despite this, AI output can contain factual errors. You agree to:
- Use SQEase as supplementary study material, not as legal advice or your sole revision source.
- Verify any legal claim against current statutes, case law and official SRA materials before relying on it.
- Report suspected errors via the in-app feedback button so we can re-verify.
See our full AI Content Disclaimer for details.
08SRA & SQE disclaimer
The full SQE qualification pathway requires a degree (or equivalent), passing SQE1, passing SQE2, completing two years of Qualifying Work Experience, and meeting character & suitability requirements. SQEase covers SQE1 Functional Legal Knowledge only. See our SRA / SQE Disclaimer.
09Intellectual property & user data
All original SQEase content is owned by us or our licensors and protected by copyright. You receive a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use the platform for your own SQE preparation only.
You may not: reproduce, redistribute, resell, scrape, reverse-engineer, train other AI models on, or share externally any SQEase content. You retain ownership of materials you upload and grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the service.
Anonymised Onboarding Data: During onboarding, you may be asked to provide professional and study details (such as study method, funding method, workplace, training contract status, education provider, and intended area of law). By providing this information, you agree that we have the right to aggregate, anonymise, and sell this statistical data. We guarantee that none of this data will be traceable to you; it is anonymised and aggregated immediately.
10Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law (including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).
Subject to that, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost study time, or exam outcomes.
11Termination
You can close your account at any time from Account → Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, our Acceptable Use Policy, or applicable law.
12Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. The courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Before going to court we encourage you to email hello@sqease.uk so we can try to resolve the dispute informally.
